Overview of Options

Navigation
  • Logo: Clicking on the logo in the upper left corner will bring you back to the main page.
  • Jump To: Notes - jumps to the Notes; View - display the selected rubaiyat with any options that are set. Please set this to "View" to use the search function.
  • Edition: First Edition, Fifth Edition of Edward FitzGerald's translation.
  • Start/End: This allows you to look up specific parts of the text based on quatrain numbering. Please note that an ending quatrain number is not required. You can then bookmark your favorite passages for later reference.
  • Pagination: This allows you to view the text in smaller pieces. The numbers given are the number of quatrains you will see per page.

Search

  • Search: Enter your keywords in the box and this will locate them in the various editions. Multiple words are treated as a phrase. If you want to find a word and none of its derivatives, e.g. "Run" without "running", just enter a space after the word.

Preferences

  • Preferences: This will allow you to choose what sort of graphics you wish to use to illustrate your edition of the Rubaiyat. Choices are "None" for no illustrations, and "Dulac" for color plates from the Edmund Dulac edition.
  • Background/Foreground: If you prefer to use custom colors, enter their name or hex equivalents here. (Examples- White=FFFFFF, Black=000000).
  • MagicCaps: Toggles Illuminated Capitals on or off. Requires the TrueType font Beanie. Right click on the link and save the font to your Windows\Fonts folder. Netscape users may have to close and restart your browser for this to work.
  • Quatrian Numbers: Turns quatrain numbers on or off.

Other Options

  • Bookmarks: When viewing the text, you will note that you can "Bookmark this" selection, "View" your bookmarks, or "Clear" them. Bookmarks are saved using cookies, so your browser should have them enabled.
